Tilkut is a dessert dish from Bihar. It is most popular in Bihar and said to be originated from Gaya. It is also known as Tilkatri. It is made of sesame seeds and jaggery. Generally, three types of Tilkuts are available in the market. One is white in color and is made of sugar, the second is a little brown in color and is redefined sugar and is known as sakkar tilkut. The other type of it is dark brown in color and is made of jaggery. During the winters, that s the time of harvesting of sugarcane, markets are full of tilkuts. The nut sized tilkuts are known as tillouri. These are amongst the most popular deserts of the state.
