Three candidates from the city, Saloni Khemka, Rishav Mandal and Ayush Nopany, have ranked in the top-100 in the civil services examination conducted by the UPSC, the results of which were declared on Friday.
While Saloni bagged the 27th rank,Rishav ranked 58 and Ayush ranked 151.
Rishav did his schooling from St Paul’s High School and Mother’s International Academy and graduated from Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam Technical University in UP in 2016.
Rishav did not go for any coaching. “I did self-study of seven hours every day for the examination apart from attending coaching classes,” said Rishav.
The son of a banker father and a school teacher mother, the 24-year-old had opted for political science as his main subject in civil (mains).
Among the other candidates from the state are
- Saurabh Suman Yadav from Nalanda, who got 55th rank,
- Nityanand Jha from Darbhanga (128th rank),
- Gaurav Gunjan from Begusarai ranked 262. The 27-year-old Nopany, who graduated from Hansraj College, Delhi University in 2013, also runs an NGO which educates slum kids.
A total of 759 candidates, including 180 women, have cleared the examination.
